A specialist assessment, not a standard intake

Healthcare, care & life sciences

Start with non-confidential operational, laboratory, equipment or research information. Patient-level or identifiable care records are not assumed eligible for sale or licensing.

Land & living systems

Is there suitable non-personal or specifically authorised material to investigate?

This sector has a higher assessment threshold. The first discussion is about the nature of the material, the rights and governance around it, and whether a lawful, suitable route could exist at all.

Illustrative connectionNot a sample archive or a promise of value
  1. 01

    Permitted research or operational question

  2. 02

    Documented protocol or method

  3. 03

  4. 04

    Result, limitation & provenance

Relevant records

Look beyond
the final file.

What was known, what was decided, what happened and what the evidence shows.

The examples below are categories to discuss. Existence, rights, suitability and buyer requirements still need to be established.

01

Laboratories & diagnostics

Test methodology, equipment quality checks, validation protocols and non-personal process information, separated from patient results.

02

Biotechnology & pharmaceutical services

Rights-cleared experimental protocols, reagent or manufacturing specifications, batch-quality records and research provenance.

03

Care and clinical operations

Non-identifying operational procedures and quality frameworks. Any proposed clinical or case-level material needs a separate specialist legal, privacy and governance assessment.

Potential uses, not promised demand

What might an AI team investigate?

  • Exploring retrieval and evidence-tracing from permitted technical or procedural material.
  • Researching laboratory process and quality records where rights and suitability are established.
  • Evaluating whether a system represents methods and limitations accurately. No clinical validation, diagnosis or treatment claim is implied.

Any actual recipient, purpose and permitted use must be agreed. These are research and evaluation possibilities, not confirmed buyers, available datasets or claims of proven AI performance.

Before anything is shared

The boundaries
are part of the work.

  • Do not send patient records, genetic data, identifiable images, care plans or other sensitive personal material.
  • Anonymisation, consent, ethics approval and legal authority are separate questions; none is established by an enquiry or by removing names.
  • Professional duties, research agreements, funder terms and retention requirements may prevent reuse even where a copy is held.

McKays does not promise that redaction or anonymisation will make material suitable. Detailed review, preparation responsibilities and any specialist advice must be agreed separately.

Research & specialist records

Explore the subject.
Keep the context.

These record areas sit within this sector. They complement the business types below; they are not additional businesses or a catalogue of available datasets.

Doctor–patient audio, transcripts & clinical notes

Specialist record area

  • Lawfully recorded doctor–patient consultation audio, aligned text transcripts and associated clinical notes, where the proposed reuse can be authorised.
  • Recording provenance, transcription method, speaker labels, note versions and permitted-use documentation.

Illustrative categories only. Ownership, permissions, confidentiality, funding or publisher restrictions and the proposed use must be reviewed. No records, rights or buyer demand are assumed.

Medicine & clinical research

Specialist record area

  • Study protocols, medical research methods, measurement definitions and non-personal laboratory procedures.
  • Any proposed patient-level observations, clinical annotations or outcomes require a separate clinical-data review before access or sharing.

Illustrative categories only. Ownership, permissions, confidentiality, funding or publisher restrictions and the proposed use must be reviewed. No records, rights or buyer demand are assumed.

Clinical material needs a separate review.

Do not send recordings, transcripts or clinical notes with an initial enquiry. Before any access or proposed reuse, specialist legal and clinical-governance review must establish authority, recording and reuse permissions, confidentiality duties, security and a lawful basis under Article 6 plus an applicable Article 9 condition for health data. Explicit consent may be relevant; another condition can be used only where its specific requirements are met. Consent to treatment or recording does not by itself establish permission for commercial AI reuse.

Pseudonymised information remains personal data. Removing names or asserting that data is anonymous does not establish lawful reuse, remove all confidentiality or contractual restrictions, or authorise a sale. No anonymisation service or acceptance of clinical archives is promised.

A useful first enquiry

Start with a description.
Not the archive.

Identify the organisation type, broad non-confidential material category, period, governance contact and whether relevant reuse permissions have already been considered.

Paper, digital and mixed archives can be discussed. Approximate answers are fine. Mention your role, who can authorise a review and any practical deadline.

Prepare an enquiry

Send a non-confidential enquiry through the website. No archive files are uploaded.
